The pattern to this set is a version of the prestigious'Louveciennes' pattern by Odiot. Featuring elegant fluting and strapping, with acanthus accents and shell motifs. The back of the service ends with berries and leaves. Each handle is engraved with a coat of arms identified as that of the Fould family.

The knives are furnished with steel blades, stamped faintly "Paris". Each piece is marked with the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark indicating. 950/1000 silver 95% pure silver and higher than.It is possible this set was commissioned by the House of Odiot. The forks and spoons carry the maker's mark of renowned Parisian silversmith Emile PUIFORCAT, active since 1857. The knife handles are marked for silversmith Edouard CORVASIER, (active in 1863 to 1880). The set is in very good antique condition, with some surface scratches and general signs of use. Spoons measure 8 7/8", Forks are 8 1/2", Knives measure 10 1/4 length. Total silver weight (sans knives) is 2320.10 grams. Weight with the knives is 3827.6 grams. The set is finely housed in a vintage presentation box.
